For small island developing states like ours, climate change is not an abstract threat, it is a lived reality. Droughts, floods, hurricanes, and rising seas continue to impact our people and our development, with 90% of our GDP concentrated along coastal regions. Over the last decade, Jamaica has strengthened its leadership in climate action. Our plan includes expanding renewable energy, improving energy efficiency in the water sector, transitioning to electric vehicles, cutting emissions in the cement industry, and restoring vital ecosystems like forests, mangroves, and seagrass. By 2035, Jamaica aims to cut emissions by 26 to 41.7 percent, depending on international support. This is not just a pledge, but a roadmap for a low-emission, climate-resilient future. Jamaica reaffirms its commitment under the Paris Agreement and calls on the international community to match ambition with action.
