Chatting about this topic before bed—honestly, for KOLs, mastering English is indeed important. After all, a lot of first-hand information from project teams and the financial/political world often comes from English-speaking regions. But does that mean English isn’t important for regular folks? Definitely not. For investors, let’s not talk about the distant future. Right now, the U.S. is leading the economic cycle, so wouldn’t getting economic data in real-time help you better judge market trends? For example, how is the current U.S. government shutdown affecting risk markets? Is it good or bad? Historically, short-term shutdowns tend to be unfavorable for risk markets. So how can you know immediately whether the U.S. is heading into a shutdown? The simplest way is to read related English content or watch English videos. Sure, you can rely on translations, but current translations—like those on Twitter using Google Translate—aren’t always accurate, especially for technical terms. Plus, some English videos don’t come with subtitles. I remember a funny story about how U.S. quant teams reportedly analyze historical patterns to predict whether Powell’s opening words—like the first letter of “G” (Good afternoon) or “H” (Hello everyone)—signal a dovish or hawkish stance. While this might just be a joke, it shows that when someone has the power to influence markets, the whole world is watching. If you understand English, your actions might be faster; if you wait for translations, you could lag behind significantly. This is just one example, but in reality, the importance of English is even more evident. For foreign project communities, if you want to secure a whitelist spot, translation alone isn’t enough—you need comprehension. If you want to better evaluate whether a project is worth investing in, Reddit might provide accurate background information. If you want deeper insights into a project, the English-speaking side of Twitter might offer more detailed introductions. After all, the assets we’re investing in are still primarily U.S.-led.
