Did some research on stablecoin payments today. Over the past week, USDC payment volume exceeded $5 billion (just on Base + Ethereum), hitting an all-time high. Not sure if this was triggered by Plasma, haha, even though their payment services don’t seem to have officially launched yet. By the way, what’s up with Circle’s stablecoin chain Arc? It’s been awfully quiet. Back to stablecoin payment metrics—getting an accurate count is pretty complicated and can’t be equated to regular Transfers. The mainstream method is to calculate based on crypto payment cards and On/Off-ramp deposit/withdrawal services. From September 22 to 28, USDC payment volume reached $5.35 billion, which is a 4-5x increase compared to the beginning of the year. Of that, $4.54 billion was processed via the Base network, and $810 million via Ethereum. Most user spending fell in the $1k-$4k range, which seems relatively consistent behavior.
