The federal government will shut down tonight at midnight, the first one since 2019. Senate first defeated the Democrats' bill 47-53 along party lines to extend expiring health care tax credits & fund gov't to Oct. 31. Senate then defeated the House-passed GOP bill funding gov't to Nov. 21st. Both needed 60 for passage. No further votes are scheduled before tonight's midnight deadline.(Craig Caplan)
