from @vamosvigilante. now i think we can maybe get them to put it somewhere we can prune and not download, but funny and true - in terms of the evolution of node runner, and that your node verifies transactions, block validity, protects you from forks, but can't directly stop spam getting into blocks. somethings you can collectively enforce for everyone (consensus validity rules) and somethings you can enforce only for yourself (non-relaying of spam) which has little effect, or non-mining of spam if you node is used for mining.(Adam Back)
