Haven’t opened these two wallets in a while, and noticed some interesting changes… MetaMask now lets you initialize your wallet address using Google/iCloud login, with the seed phrase file encrypted and backed up in the corresponding cloud. The password is your wallet unlock password. You can export the backup yourself. Base (Coinbase Wallet) uses Passkeys to initialize wallet addresses. For backups, you need to ensure the Passkey exists in the following locations (see image 3). For example, if you’re using an iPhone, it’ll be stored in the iCloud Keychain by default, visible in the “Passwords App,” and those passwords are synced via iCloud backup. Both rely on Web2 giants’ security and privacy barriers to protect Web3 wallet confidential information… while also enhancing convenience. Quick reminder here: don’t skip the backup process, no matter how tedious it seems. If these new tricks fail or something goes wrong, you’ll regret it when the time comes…
