In the past two years, when it comes to privacy computing in blockchain, the @ zama_he project has always been unavoidable. What it does is actually very 'low-level', but its significance is not small: it enables transactions, data, and logic on the blockchain to run directly in encrypted state. What does it mean? You can understand it as: even if others cannot see what you have traded or executed, the entire process is still trustworthy, public, and verifiable. This is the real problem solved by fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) - various calculations can be performed on encrypted data without decryption.
Some hardcore advancements are being implemented, and Zama's technological pace continues to rise in October.
They have developed the world's first hardware accelerator tailored for FHE - HPU, which is an open-source FPGA module that can significantly improve FHE's execution efficiency. In the future, both on chain transactions and AI computing can leverage this hardware to move towards real usability.
TFHE's latency has also hit a new low: Boolean operations have been compressed to 796 microseconds, and 4-bit integer operations are less than 1 millisecond, which is more than 50 times higher than the benchmark version in 2021. This level of optimization is the prerequisite for privacy computing to truly enter the 'usable stage'.
The new testnet has also been launched: FHEVM v0.9 has been deployed on the testnet, supporting distributed key generation, co processors, and other capabilities that were previously limited to PPT, further advancing the landing of encrypted smart contracts.
The community ecosystem has also declined, and Zama's third season Creator Program has been launched simultaneously, with monthly incentives increased to $56000. A new video content track has also been added, and the top 1000 creators can receive OG NFTs. The meaning of this mechanism is very clear: developers and content creators are welcome to build this privacy computing ecosystem together, not just to promote projects, but to participate in the ecosystem.
They are also collaborating with Privatsea AI to jointly build the FHE toolchain, connecting privacy computing and AI capabilities. This move is very forward-looking in the era of AI explosion.
Why is Zama different? Many people compare FHE and ZK technologies. ZK proves that you have "done something", but does not disclose details; And FHE directly allows you to complete the task itself without revealing any details. This difference means that in the future, it's not just about proving a transaction is valid, but also the ability to run AI, financial models, and even establish new social protocols under fully encrypted conditions.
The FHEVM launched by Zama is such a "privacy execution environment" based on Ethereum compatible architecture. It is not the idea in the white paper, but a development tool that can already run demos and enable developers to deploy truly confidential smart contracts on the chain.
@Zama_he is not talking about a distant cryptographic fantasy, but using his engineering skills to gradually turn "fully encrypted computation" into reality.
Although this direction has high barriers to entry and technical difficulties, it plays an irreplaceable role in the future evolution of on chain AI, data applications, and even DeFi. Its ultimate goal is to build a "fully encrypted, verifiable and interactive" Confidential Blockchain Protocol.
If you are optimistic about the next decade of blockchain, why not start paying attention to Zama now - not to grab popularity, but to see how it gradually brings on chain privacy into the toolbox of mainstream developers.
