[U.S. October Consumer Confidence Index Remains Stable]
On October 10, data from the University of Michigan showed that the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index recorded 55 points, remaining essentially unchanged from September. Although views on personal financial conditions and the business environment have improved, evaluations of future financial expectations and conditions for purchasing durable goods have declined, with the overall economic outlook showing little change. Inflation expectations slightly decreased to 4.6%, while long-term inflation expectations remained at 3.7%, still at elevated levels. The federal government shutdown has not yet significantly impacted consumers' economic perceptions.
