Long story short, BTC Core 3.0 is here. I know you probably don’t get it, so let me break down what’s different. The biggest change is that this version will no longer filter OP_RETURN outputs containing large amounts of non-financial data. The default data carrier limit is being increased from the current 80 bytes to nearly 4MB, and node operators will be able to manually adjust the `-datacarrier` and `-datacarriersize` parameters. 1. OP_RETURN goes from 80k to 100k, meaning you can store more small images, even short videos or mini-games (under 4MB). 2. Back when BSV expanded OP_RETURN to 1GB, WASM was directly implemented. So with BTC’s upgrade, if they stick to the old approach, you’ll still need off-chain indexing + execution, which means this path is blocked again. // I already have RGB, so why bother complicating things with smart contracts on the BTC chain??? Summary: Meh, nothing groundbreaking. In the short term, BTC’s inscription ecosystem might see a bit of a rebound, but fundamentally, it still needs new gameplay and new Ponzi schemes to spark interest.
