The discussion around exchanges has become pretty polarized these days.
To be honest, as someone who started playing around in the crypto space around 2019, I used to rely on writing short articles to mix into various content platforms. Back then, I had connections with many exchanges, and there were plenty of holiday freebies too. But I’m pretty laid-back, thin-skinned, low EQ, and bad at generating traffic, so now I basically have zero collaborations with exchanges. Any freebies I get are from friends; if I have them, great, if not, no big deal. As for PR and ads from exchanges, that’s completely out of the picture.
Since I’m bad at generating traffic, making money through ads is basically a pipe dream. And because I can’t bring myself to compete with all the eloquent influencers out there, I’ve pretty much stopped attending any offline Web3 events since 2020.
That said, I’m genuinely grateful for crypto and think memes are an amazing invention. I can’t do secondary trading, don’t understand contracts, so I can only rely on memes to make a living. That’s why I’m thankful for platforms that create opportunities for people to play around with memes.
I’ve definitely grown a lot over the past couple of years. In the past, I’d get mad easily—angry at rug-pull project teams, angry at platforms with no vision. But now I don’t bother; getting mad doesn’t help. I just take every lesson to heart.
I hope memes will always exist and continue to give people like me, who rely on meme trading to make a bit of money, a way to survive.
As for contracts, I don’t understand them, so I’ll just wish all the good people out there success in whatever they play. I believe in karma.
