Recent facepalm article from @coinlaw_io on Bitcoin mining includes
1. Quoting Alex de Vries' Bitcoin "water consumption"
numbers (de Vries method for measuring Bitcoin mining resource consumption was debunked in peer reviewed study 2 years ago)
2. Overstaging Bitcoin emission by 2.5x (Cambridge's April 2025 mining report puts them at 39MT, not 98MT)
3. A graphic about Bitcoin's power-mix puts fossil fuel at 66%, contradicting the earlier (and correct) earlier 2025 Cambridge figure within their own article that sustainable energy mix is 52.4% (ie: fossil fuel use is only 47.6%)
Rookie errors guys; particularly when combined with the hubris that your writers are revealing some alpha that experts don't know.
Do better.(Daniel Batten)
