In the storage space, @irys_xyz is taking a completely different path compared to a bunch of traditional storage solutions. While others are busy solving 'how to store,' IRYS is tackling 'how to use.' AWS, Google, and other traditional giants offer dumb storage. You throw data in, and it just sits there as data—you need to call other services to process it. IRYS turns data into programmable assets, allowing smart contracts to directly read, modify, and execute rules. When it comes to saving money, IRYS is serious: storing 100GB of data for 5 years costs $56, while AWS charges $1656 for the same requirement. By comparison, it feels like the slogan of traditional vendors is "easy money, come and get it." Actually, the price gap is an inevitable result of underlying architectural design. Traditional giants need to maintain massive operational systems with human labor, while IRYS uses a decentralized network to distribute these costs across global nodes. IRYS, as an L1 blockchain built for professional data storage, integrates storage, execution, and consensus into a vertically unified architecture. Unlike decentralized storage veterans like Filecoin and Arweave, IRYS combines staking with proof of useful work through a hybrid consensus mechanism. Miners earn rewards by storing verifiable data. In terms of approach, this could be considered a disruptive innovation. Meanwhile, traditional storage giants are facing increasingly obvious bottlenecks in AI data processing: data silos, processing delays, and skyrocketing costs. IRYS leverages the IrysVM execution layer to allow AI models to directly run inference and training at the storage layer, eliminating the need for data transfers between different services. This advantage is becoming critically important as AI workloads explode. Personally, I believe what @irys_xyz is doing has a strong chance of becoming the standard for next-generation data infrastructure—turning data into truly executable, tradable, and traceable on-chain assets.
