[CME Plans to Launch Contracts Linked to Sports Events and Economic Indicators to Compete with Kalshi]
According to Bloomberg, sources revealed that Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group Inc. (CME Group Inc.) plans to launch financial contracts tied to sports events and economic indicators by the end of the year. These products will enable the Chicago-based CME to compete more directly with prediction market platforms Kalshi and Polymarket. CME is preparing to introduce new contracts to the public through futures commission merchants, including its futures commission merchant jointly established with Flutter Entertainment's FanDuel. CME may also offer these contracts on other similar platforms, thereby opening access to traditional retail investment brokerage firms. CME representatives declined to comment on the plans, stating that the plans are still subject to change.
