On Day 17 of the federal government shutdown, the House announced during its pro forma session that Oct. 20-26 will now be a district work period for members, meaning no votes will be held for a FIFTH consecutive week. Last votes were held Sept. 19th. House GOP leaders are awaiting Senate approval of the short-term funding bill to reopen the gov't & will give members 48 hours to return to DC if votes are scheduled. Rep. Olszewski (D-MD) yelled from House floor to be recognized, calling on Rep.-Elect Grijalva to be sworn in. @cspan(Craig Caplan)
