I saw a friend a couple of days ago emphasizing that their community is free, and I can only say they’ve underestimated the darkness of human nature.
Charge for everything—charge Chinese users, charge users worldwide. This is compensation for mental stress. If you’re doing it for free, you won’t last. Financial incentives are real and tangible. Not charging? That’s just nonsense.
Stop clinging to idealistic empty talk. I’ve seen through human nature. Charge money, then lead your crew to make money together. Help others earn money, and you can also collect fees to pay for development and operations. That’s the virtuous cycle of society. No one’s going to work for you for free forever, right?
That’s why capitalism is great. It’s great because everything can be bought with money. It’s great because Visa, Mastercard, and AmEx all charge a 3% service fee. Any payment processing function you use will add another 3% service fee. Then factor in VAT from different countries—Germany charges 19%, which is basically robbery. This means if your service sucks, you won’t make money. If you sell cheap, you won’t even be able to pay wages.
What’s the point of doing it for free? Charity?
