[Thai Deputy Finance Minister Accused of Links to Telecom Fraud Group] Jin10 Data reported on October 24 that on October 22, Thailand's Deputy Finance Minister Worapak Thanyayon officially resigned after being accused of having ties to a telecom fraud group, becoming the first cabinet minister to resign since Prime Minister Anutin took office. Previous reports indicated that Worapak was linked to a foreign fraudster allegedly involved in transnational telecom fraud in Cambodia. His wife was also accused of receiving $3 million worth of cryptocurrency from a Cambodian criminal network earlier this year. Multiple allegations have placed him at the center of public controversy. On the day of his resignation, Worapak explicitly denied involvement in any illegal activities, stating that "resigning is to focus all my energy on legal defense." He also mentioned that handling the related lawsuits would require significant time and expressed concerns that the matter might affect his ability to fulfill his duties at the Ministry of Finance.
