[Zhimin Qian Sentenced to 11 Years and 8 Months] According to Bloomberg, Chinese woman Zhimin Qian (also known as Yadi Zhang) was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison by a London court for orchestrating an investment fraud of approximately 40 billion RMB ($5.6 billion) and laundering money to purchase 61,000 bitcoins. This case marks the largest cryptocurrency seizure in UK history, with the bitcoins involved currently valued at approximately $6.4 billion. Prosecutors stated that after fleeing China, Zhimin Qian traveled through multiple countries using a fake passport before being apprehended in the UK. She had previously purchased luxury homes, jewelry, and other high-end goods through her associates and planned to sell the bitcoins to fund the self-proclaimed "nation" of Liberland. UK government agencies are now studying how to return the seized assets to the defrauded investors.
