Last night, Twitter continuously opened the feature to view the location of other accounts, and today it officially went live. After checking, multiple bloggers from mainland China are shown as being in Hong Kong but are marked by Twitter as using a VPN to connect to Twitter (Image 1). Meanwhile, several bloggers who are verified as being overseas don’t have this notification or tag (Image 2). Adding more transparency to social media—good stuff.
