[Google Plans to Sell TPUs Directly to Meta, Further Eroding NVIDIA's Market Share] Odaily Planet Daily News: Google’s parent company Alphabet (GOOG.O) is in talks with companies such as Meta (META.O) to grant access to its self-developed Tensor AI chips, further expanding its competitive landscape against NVIDIA (NVDA.O). Following this news, Google and its AI chip partner Broadcom saw after-hours stock price increases, while NVIDIA and AMD shares fell in response. Traditionally, Google has only deployed its self-developed TPUs in its own data centers and rented out computing power to customers. However, according to a report by U.S. tech media outlet *The Information* on Monday evening local time, Google now plans to sell TPU chips directly to customers for deployment in their own data centers. Meta is considering purchasing Google TPU chips worth tens of billions of dollars starting in 2027 for its data centers and may begin renting TPU computing power from Google Cloud as early as 2026. Currently, Meta’s AI operations primarily rely on NVIDIA GPUs. This represents a significant emerging market opportunity for Google and Broadcom, who co-designed the Tensor chips. At the same time, it could create substantial competitive pressure on NVIDIA and AMD, potentially impacting their sales and pricing power. (Jin10)
