The major networks just got outworked and outshined by a young independent journalist. Where were the network “investigative” reporters while this was happening? A former forensic auditor has now confirmed that Minnesota’s Child Care Assistance Program had suspected fraud going back more than a decade, with multiple state agencies - including DHS and the Office of the Inspector General - aware of the red flags. So again: Where were the state agencies? Where were the inspections? Where were the checks and balances tied to licensing and oversight? This is exactly why regular audits of public spending matter. Fraud doesn’t appear overnight - it festers when nobody is watching. And here’s where MA should be paying attention. 72% of MA voters made it law - not a suggestion - that the State Auditor, @DianaDiZoglio, has the authority to audit the Legislature. Yet Beacon Hill simply refuses to comply. @MassAGO somehow finds time to sue the federal government two dozen times in under a year, but won’t lift a finger to help enforce the audit law voters demanded. @maura_healey remains silent. Even worse, she went on @BosPublicRadio and told @jimbraude and @MargeryEagan that the audit is “out of her hands” - as if the Governor of MA is powerless to uphold the law. 🤦‍♂️ I’ve said this before and I’ll keep saying it: There is only one reason to fight an audit this hard - corruption. Instead of backing the voters, Maura Healey, @RonMariano, @Spilka4Congress, and Andrea Campbell have turned on Diana DiZoglio - smearing her as if this is a personal vendetta instead of a lawful audit mandate. It’s insane. And the fact that the MSM refuses to apply pressure to any of these elected officials is mind-boggling. Maybe the rampant fraud now being exposed in Minnesota - also ignored for years by legacy media - will finally force some sunlight here in MA.
