[Dragonfly Partner: Data Shows Increasing Frequency of Violent Attacks on Crypto Users, Most Severe in Western Europe and Asia-Pacific] Odaily Planet Daily News - Haseeb: Dragonfly partner Haseeb posted on the X platform, stating that according to the violence attack database maintained by Jameson, the number of violent attacks (wrench attacks) targeting cryptocurrency users has been steadily increasing over time, with the severity of the attacks also escalating. Geographically, the most significant growth in violence has been observed in Western Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Although the absolute number of incidents in North America has risen, it remains a relatively safer region. Data analysis indicates that the occurrence rate of violent incidents is positively correlated with the total market value of cryptocurrencies, with a regression analysis R² of 0.45, meaning that 45% of the variance in violent incidents can be explained by price factors. However, when standardized by Binance user numbers or per capita wealth holdings, the current risk level has not reached historical highs. The proportion of users attacked in 2015 and 2018 was actually higher than it is now. Nevertheless, the recent per capita attack rate has moderately rebounded, returning to 2021 levels. To address security risks, Haseeb recommends users adopt protective measures such as living in buildings with 24-hour security, avoiding wearing clothing with cryptocurrency logos, using a PO Box for receiving mail, separating hot wallets and cold wallets for storage, and refraining from publicly sharing real-time locations when attending conferences.
