[HSBC: Bank of England Expected to Cut Rates Further in April, July, and November]
Jin10 News, January 6 – HSBC economist Elizabeth Martins stated in a report that UK inflation is expected to decline in the coming months, increasing the likelihood of further rate cuts by the Bank of England. Martins noted that lower household energy bills and slower wage growth are expected to bring the UK's annual inflation rate down to 2.1% in April and maintain it around 2% thereafter. She said: 'We expect the Bank of England to cut rates further in April, July, and November, lowering rates to 3.00% by the fourth quarter of 2026, though this forecast remains subject to upside risks.'
Data from the London Stock Exchange Group shows that the UK money market has already fully priced in a 25-basis-point rate cut in 2026, with the possibility of a second rate cut in the second half of the year.
