TRUMP TARGETS CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE REBUILDING DELAYS The White House may issue an executive order to speed rebuilding of homes destroyed in last year’s Southern California wildfires, citing slow state and local permitting. The order would let builders using federal funds self-certify compliance with permits, bypassing local authorities. Fewer than a dozen homes have been rebuilt since the Palisades and Eaton fires killed 31 people and destroyed over 16,000 structures. About 900 homes are currently under construction. The proposal would also have FEMA review California’s use of other disaster-related federal funds. Trump has not yet signed the order.(*Walter Bloomberg)
