Vitalik Buterin: Turning to support native Rollup, ZK timeline gradually matures Odaily Planet Daily News: Vitalik Buterin stated in an article that he is "clearly more inclined to support native rollups" compared to the past. Vitalik recalled that the important reason for opposing native Rollup before was that its precompilation scheme had to choose between ZK mode or Optimistic mode, and at that time ZK-EVM was not yet mature. L2 often chose the latter between "quick withdrawal but self proof risk" and "relying on Ethereum security but waiting for 2-7 days for withdrawal", thereby weakening Ethereum's composability and promoting the popularity of schemes such as multi sign bridges. Vitalik pointed out that the current situation is changing: Ethereum's timeline for fully adopting ZK at the L1 level is gradually aligning with the actual progress of introducing native Rollup precompilation, and the core obstacles mentioned above are expected to be eliminated. He also mentioned that the community is increasingly incorporating "synchronous composability" as one of the core values of L2, and exploring the combination of Rollup based solutions with low latency pre confirmation mechanisms. In addition, Vitalik emphasized that the native Rollup precompilation design should not be hastily promoted in specific implementation. He proposed that in the future, he hopes to have such an attribute: if developers build Rollup with "EVM and a small amount of extension functions", they can directly reuse the EVM part in the native Rollup precompilation, and only introduce a custom proof system for newly added functions, connecting the two through standardization.
