[Insider: NVIDIA and OpenAI's $100 Billion Cooperation Agreement Stalls] According to Global Times, insiders revealed that NVIDIA originally planned to invest up to $100 billion (approximately 696.456 billion RMB) in OpenAI to train and operate the latest artificial intelligence models. However, due to internal doubts within the company, this highly anticipated deal is currently at a standstill. In September last year, NVIDIA and OpenAI announced their collaboration with great fanfare at NVIDIA's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. At that time, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding, with NVIDIA committing to build at least 10GW of computing power for OpenAI and investing up to $100 billion to help cover related costs. OpenAI, in turn, agreed to lease NVIDIA chips. OpenAI initially expected negotiations to be finalized quickly, but as of now, discussions remain in the early stages. Currently, both parties are reassessing the prospects of the collaboration, and the latest plan may shift toward a dollar equity investment in OpenAI's current funding round. Insiders further disclosed that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has privately emphasized in recent months that the initial $100 billion agreement is non-binding and far from finalized. He also criticized OpenAI for lacking sufficient discipline in its commercial advancements and expressed concerns about its intense competition with rivals such as Anthropic. In response, an OpenAI spokesperson stated: 'The details of the collaboration are still being worked out. NVIDIA's technology has supported our breakthroughs from the very beginning and drives our current systems. It will remain a core part of our future scaling efforts.'
