Steak'n Shake will distribute Bitcoin bonuses to hourly wage employees

American fast food chain Steak 'n Shake announced that it will collaborate with the Fold app to distribute Bitcoin bonuses to all hourly wage employees in its directly operated stores. Starting from March 1, 2026, eligible employees will receive Bitcoin worth $0.21 per hour of work, with a two-year attribution period for the bonus. Based on working 40 hours per week, employees can accumulate approximately $436.80 in Bitcoin annually. Steak'n Shake started accepting Bitcoin payments last year and included sales revenue in its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR), increasing its Bitcoin position by $10 million on January 16th of this year. The company stated that accepting Bitcoin increased same store sales by 10% and saved 50% on transaction processing fees.
