[US Media: Meta Delays Release of New AI Model Due to Performance Issues]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on March 13, according to The New York Times, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in July last year that the company’s new artificial intelligence model would be launched within about a year. However, according to three insiders, Zuckerberg appears to be finding it increasingly difficult to meet that deadline. Sources revealed that Meta’s next-generation "frontier" AI model, which has been in development for months, failed to match the performance levels of leading AI models from competitors like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in internal tests focused on reasoning, programming, and writing capabilities.
Two insiders disclosed that the model, codenamed "Avocado," performed better than Meta’s previous AI models but fell short compared to the "Gemini 3.0" model launched in November last year. As a result, Meta has postponed the release of the "Avocado" product from this month to at least May. (Jin10 Data)
