[Eherscan Issues Warning: Ethereum Fusaka Upgrade Leads to a 612% Surge in 'Address Poisoning']
BlockBeats News, March 13: Eherscan posted on social media that from 2022 to 2024, Ethereum experienced approximately 17 million poisoning attempts, affecting 1.3 million users, with confirmed losses of at least $79.3 million. Following the Fusaka upgrade (December 3, 2025), transaction costs significantly decreased, leading to an explosive 612% increase in dust transfers.
Etherscan recommends users take the following precautions:
· Always manually verify the full target address before transferring funds (most important).
· Add private name tags to frequently used addresses + use ENS domains.
· Enable the Etherscan Address Highlight feature.
· Pay attention to pop-up reminders when copying addresses.
