[U.S. Judge Rejects Request to Rehear Powell Case Ruling, Appeal May Delay Walsh's Nomination Confirmation] According to Golden Finance, on April 4, local time Friday, Chief U.S. District Judge for the District of Columbia James Boasberg rejected the Department of Justice's request to rehear the ruling in the criminal case against Powell. The previous ruling had blocked subpoenas issued in connection with the criminal investigation involving Powell. In his March 13 ruling, Boasberg stated that the subpoena issued to the Federal Reserve Board last January was made for improper purposes, aiming to pressure Powell into agreeing to Trump's demands for rapid interest rate cuts or resignation. The subpoena against Powell was issued by Washington, D.C.'s Chief Federal Prosecutor Jeanine Pirro (a staunch Trump supporter), who has pledged to continue the investigation and stated that her office is prepared to appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. According to sources, senior officials at the Department of Justice support this decision to appeal. This appeal could potentially delay the confirmation of Kevin Walsh's nomination as Federal Reserve Chair. U.S. Senator Thom Tillis, a Republican member of the Senate Banking Committee, has criticized the investigation into Powell and vowed to continue blocking Walsh's nomination during the appeals process.
