World Gold Council: Global central banks net buy 19 tons of gold in February 2026

The World Gold Council has released a report stating that in February 2026, global central banks net purchased 19 tons of gold, a slight increase from 5 tons in January 2026, but lower than the monthly average of 26 tons in 2025. The report points out that some central banks have maintained a continuous net buying record, with the Czech Republic net buying for 36 consecutive months and China increasing its gold holdings for 16 consecutive months. Goldman Sachs predicts that gold prices may rise to $5400 per ounce by the end of the year, while UBS predicts a target price of $5900 per ounce at the beginning of 2027.
