[Bittensor Co-Founder Calls for Restarting Subnet Community Voting Governance, Criticizes Covenant AI Founder’s Actions as 'Malicious and Greedy'] BlockBeats News, April 10 — In response to Covenant AI’s recent withdrawal from the Bittensor network, Bittensor co-founder Jacob Steeves addressed the matter on Discord. He revealed that when dTAO was launched a year ago, the team had originally planned to implement a community-led subnet governance mechanism—specifically, allowing Subnet Alpha holders to vote via wallets to elect teams responsible for hyperparameters. However, this feature was postponed due to the need to grant subnet owners more control during the early stages. Steeves believes now is the right time to reignite this discussion and suggests introducing a community voting mechanism to elect teams and restart the subnet. He emphasized that as one of the major holders, supporters, and technical contributors to Bittensor’s top three projects, he will personally participate in this mechanism and recommend suitable candidates to continue advancing the project goals he initially set with Covenant AI founder Sam Dare. At the same time, Steeves bluntly stated that Sam Dare’s recent decisions were 'clearly driven by malice and greed.' However, he also noted that such crises often signal new beginnings, with the potential to redefine the structure and governance of subnets.
