[Trump and the White House both deny setting a final deadline for extending the ceasefire]
According to Jintou's report, Trump stated in an interview with Fox News that reports about a 3-to-5-day window for extending the ceasefire are false. Regarding Iran's seizure of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said they are not American ships and that the situation will continue to be monitored. When asked about when the war would end, Trump said there is no timetable and no rush. "People say I want to resolve this quickly because of the midterm elections, but that's not true," Trump said, adding that the administration hopes to secure a good deal for Americans. Trump also mentioned that blockades scare them more than bombings. "They've been bombed for many years, but what they truly hate is the blockade. Once those oil wells stop production, sometimes it's permanent." Trump predicted that when negotiations resume, Iran's foreign minister will still be involved.
