[Barclays: The Federal Reserve is expected to hold steady this week but may still cut rates this year]
Jin10 Data, April 27 โ Barclays analysts stated in a report that, against the backdrop of persistently high inflation, the Federal Reserve is expected to maintain the federal funds target rate range unchanged at this week's meeting, but a rate cut remains possible this year. Analysts noted: "In an environment of high uncertainty, the Federal Reserve tends to hold steady. Strong demand and still elevated inflation support its patience, and policymakers have signaled reduced confidence in further rate cuts in the short term." Analysts further stated that if inflation declines as expected, the Federal Reserve is likely to gain sufficient confidence to begin easing policy around September. "We still anticipate rate cuts this year." According to LSEG data, the money market is currently pricing in a 10-basis-point rate cut by the Federal Reserve in 2026.
