Elon Musk said on social media platform X that Silk Road founder Ross William Ulbricht would be granted a presidential pardon. The news sparked widespread attention, and the odds of Ulbricht receiving a pardon on Polymarket quickly jumped to 95%. It is understood that President Trump first promised to pardon Ulbricht during his campaign at the Libertarian National Convention in May last year. He said he would reduce Ulbricht’s sentence to time served on his first day back in office if he was re-elected. Ulbricht was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for his role in running the Silk Road marketplace. His supporters believe his sentence is too long for his crimes. Although Trump didn't mention Bitcoin in his inauguration speech, Polymarket bettors are confident that a pardon for Ulbricht is imminent.
