#Airdrop Frenzy: $14.9 Billion#

In 2024, the crypto space witnessed a surge in airdrops, with projects distributing tokens worth a staggering $14.91 billion to crypto users, according to on-chain analysis by crypto aggregator Dropstab. Hyperliquid topped the list with $1.34 billion in airdrops, rewarding over 90,000 users. Closely following was Starknet, which airdropped 700 million tokens worth $1.33 billion to 1.3 million addresses. Pengu, Wormhole, and Jupiter rounded out the top five with airdrop values of $1.15 billion, $896 million, and $891 million, respectively.From a sector perspective, the L2 space led with the highest airdrop value at $4.22 billion, accounting for 28.3% of the total. DeFi followed closely with $3.31 billion in airdrops, representing 22.2% of the total. L1, gaming & meme, liquid staking, and artificial intelligence (AI) projects distributed tokens worth $2.63 billion, $2.28 billion, $1.27 billion, and $373 million, respectively. This indicates that airdrops have become a crucial tool for crypto projects to attract users, expand their communities, and drive project development, and they are likely to continue playing a significant role in the future.
