#Myanmar's Northern Telecom Fraud Group Eradicated#

Public Security Ministry spokesperson Zhang Ming introduced the latest progress on the issue of telecom network fraud involving China in northern Myanmar at a press conference. Since launching a special campaign to crack down on telecom network fraud crimes involving China in northern Myanmar in July 2023, the Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with public security organs in Yunnan, Zhejiang, and other provinces, has leveraged the China-Myanmar law enforcement and security cooperation mechanism to fully investigate and prosecute cases. By the end of 2024, a total of over 53,000 Chinese suspects involved in fraud had been apprehended, the notorious "Four Big Families" criminal group in Kachin State, northern Myanmar, had been completely dismantled, and large-scale telecom fraud parks in northern Myanmar near the Chinese border had been completely eradicated. The special campaign has achieved significant interim results, leading to a substantial decrease in the number of telecom network fraud cases filed nationwide and the amount of losses. Currently, the cases involving the "Four Big Families" criminal group have gradually entered the litigation stage. Despite the significant achievements in combating and governing this issue, the current criminal situation remains severe and complex. Fraudulent groups are constantly updating and upgrading their criminal tools by utilizing new technologies such as blockchain, virtual currency, and AI intelligence, leading to an escalation of the offensive and defensive confrontation.
