#Number of encrypted ATMs is on the rise.#

The number of cryptocurrency ATMs globally is on the rise again, nearing all-time highs. As of January 11, 2025, there were 38,866 cryptocurrency ATMs in operation worldwide, just 1,092 fewer than the peak in December 2022. This is a stark contrast to the downward trend experienced in April and July 2023, when the number of cryptocurrency ATMs decreased significantly due to the Terra stablecoin crisis and the FTX collapse. The United States is home to the highest number of cryptocurrency ATMs, accounting for 81.3% of the global total, followed by Europe (4.3%), Oceania (4%), and Australia (3.5%). Bitcoin Depot is the largest cryptocurrency ATM operator globally, managing 8,486 ATMs, followed by Coinflip (5,289 ATMs) and Athena Bitcoin (3,797 ATMs). The vast majority of cryptocurrency ATMs support Bitcoin, followed by Litecoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin. The rebound in the number of cryptocurrency ATMs suggests that, despite the market turmoil of 2022, interest in cryptocurrencies remains high.
