Overview

Binance announces that starting from 08:00 on January 22, 2025, the Unified Account will introduce a new feature, the Maximum Negative Balance information. When the negative balance of any asset exceeds the corresponding Maximum Negative Balance, an automatic conversion process will be triggered to repay the negative balance. The system will calculate the negative balance of each asset every 10 minutes and first cancel any pending orders using the corresponding asset and return the negative balance to 80% of the Maximum Negative Balance. If the negative balance of the asset does not fall below 80% of the Maximum Negative Balance after repayment, the system will start the conversion process, and assets with higher collateralization rates will be prioritized for conversion to repay the negative balance.

Analysis

Binance announced that, starting from 08:00 on January 22, 2025, unified accounts will be added with the highest negative balance information. This means that when a user's account negative balance exceeds the maximum negative balance of the corresponding asset, the system will automatically trigger the exchange process to repay the negative balance. Specifically, the system will first cancel pending orders that occupy the corresponding asset and return the negative balance to 80% of the maximum negative balance. If the negative balance of the asset is still higher than 80% of the maximum negative balance after repayment, the system will start the exchange process, giving priority to exchanging assets with a higher pledge rate to repay the negative balance. This new regulation aims to prevent users from incurring account risks due to excessive negative balances and ensure the stability of user accounts.
