#Telegram scams are rampant.#

Crypto scams on Telegram are rampant, with malware scams now exceeding traditional phishing attacks. According to blockchain security firm Scam Sniffer, scams enticing investors to join malicious Telegram groups surged 2,000% from November 2024 to January this year. These scams are no longer limited to impersonating crypto influencers, but are targeting legitimate cryptocurrency project communities on the platform through seemingly safe invitations. Attackers distribute malware through fake verification bots, trading groups, airdrop groups, and "exclusive" insider groups. When users fall for the fake verification process, malicious code is injected into their clipboard, which, when executed, downloads malware, thereby stealing victims' passwords, cryptocurrency wallets, and browser data. Scam Sniffer reminds users that any legitimate cryptocurrency service will not ask users to execute commands, install verification software, or run scripts from their clipboard.
