Latin America is becoming a pioneer in tokenization projects worldwide, and Paraguay has stepped in to be part of this trend. Paradata, a blockchain development firm, announced the tokenization of equity associated with an ambitious real‑estate project using Polkadot as a base layer.

The project involves tokenizing 130,000 equity tokens tied to the Asunción Innovation Valley, an innovation district being developed in the country’s capital. To tokenize the shares, Paradata chose Better Use Blockchain, a Brazilian company that provides blockchain-based services using Moonbeam, a Polkadot parachain.

The initiative is backed by $6 million—the value of the land where the innovation valley will be built—and also involves managing and distributing potential revenues from a hotel, convention center, university, and data center to token holders via blockchain.

Polkadot reported that the first tranche of equity tokens has already been distributed to founding partners, with a second issuance planned for 2028. The equity tokens will be recognized as valid by government institutions, which will be able to block, burn, or redistribute them if required by judicial ruling.

The launch of the project, slated for Q3 2025, will leverage Better Use Blockchain’s platform, which will finalize its integration with global payment gateways and implement KYC measures for tokenized equity transactions.

John Rhodel Bartolome, Business Developer at Polkadot, highlighted the relevance of this move for the broader tokenization ecosystem in Latam. He stated:

What began as a pilot has evolved into a potential benchmark for Latin America. With Polkadot supporting the vision of Mário and Ricardo from the Chamber, and Jaime from Better Use Blockchain providing the infrastructure to bring it to life.

Bartolome stressed that all the partners of this project, including Polkadot, Better Use Blockchain, Moonbeam, and the Paraguayan Blockchain Chamber, have become essential to making this initiative possible.
