"Youth Voyage" gathers, kicking off in Shanghai on October 18! Countdown to ETHShanghai 2025 has begun.

In the golden autumn of October, the global Web3 world will once again focus on Shanghai. The fourth ETHShanghai conference will be grandly held from October 18 to 22, 2025.

This conference, themed "Expanding Ethereum, Shaping an Open Future," is led by the Chinese builder community ETHPanda, co-hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Lab, PANews, and TinTinLand, and will be held concurrently with the Wanxiang Blockchain Global Summit in the same city, aiming to create a global feast of innovation.

At that time, several guests, including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and the foundation's newly appointed co-executive director Hsiao-Wei Wang, will participate remotely, while industry leaders such as Tomasz Stańczak, founder of Nethermind and co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, and Wanxiang Blockchain Chairman Xiao Feng will gather in Shanghai to discuss the next stage of evolution in the Ethereum ecosystem.

Summit: The Intersection of Ideas and Technology

As the highlight of this conference, the main summit on October 22 will be the ultimate stage for the collision of technical consensus and ideas. Currently, 22 global industry leaders are scheduled to speak, engaging in in-depth discussions on core topics such as Ethereum scalability, modular ecosystems, developer growth, and long-term security. The conference will be opened with a speech by Xiao Feng, Vice Chairman of Wanxiang Holdings and Chairman of Wanxiang Blockchain, officially kicking off the event. Following this, Vitalik Buterin will deliver a keynote speech online, sharing his latest thoughts on the future roadmap of Ethereum, the integration of AI and blockchain, and the evolution of the DeFi ecosystem. As the soul of Ethereum, every speech by Vitalik resonates deeply within the industry.

Next, another highly anticipated keynote speech will be delivered by Hsiao-Wei Wang, the newly appointed co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation. Known for her strong technical background and rich community experience, she has led the development of sharding and the beacon chain, making significant contributions to the evolution of the protocol layer. Hsiao-Wei Wang's speech will focus on the technical sustainability of Ethereum and community co-construction models, providing insights into the foundation's future strategic direction.

Afterward, Bruce Xu, co-founder of ETHPanda, will host a fireside chat with Tomasz Stańczak. As the founder of Nethermind and co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation, Tomasz has long been dedicated to optimizing the execution layer and promoting modular architecture. His sharing will revolve around "The Future of Ethereum's Execution Layer and Ecological Collaboration," providing systematic ideas for developers.

Additionally, the summit will feature multiple roundtable discussions covering various hot topics such as L2 scalability, the integration of TradFi and Web3, AI applications, and community contributions, providing opportunities for global builders to collide ideas and collaborate.

Hackathon: Igniting the Next Decade of Ethereum

Before the summit outlines its grand blueprint, a 72-hour offline hackathon will ignite the spark of innovation. As the core of ETHShanghai's innovation, the hackathon, held from October 18 to 21, aims to inject practical vitality into the next decade of Ethereum. The first day will start with participant registration and the opening ceremony at 17:00, followed by coding sessions. From the 19th to the 20th, multiple keynote speeches will be arranged, and on the 21st, there will be project submissions, roadshows, and evaluation sessions. This hackathon is expected to select about 100 top developers from over 500 global applications, incubating 30 to 40 innovative projects on-site.

The competition will revolve around three cutting-edge tracks:

AI × ETH — Following the establishment of the dAI team by the Ethereum Foundation, exploring the integration of AI and Ethereum, including AI-driven on-chain agents, automated contracts, and governance mechanism innovations;
DeFi × Infra — Focusing on RWA and modular infrastructure construction, promoting the intelligence and security of decentralized finance;
Public Goods × Open Source Construction — Encouraging the development of ecological underlying tools and collaborative frameworks, strengthening the sustainable development of open finance and public infrastructure.

The total prize pool reaches $15,000, and the champion teams of each track will have the opportunity to present their results on the main summit stage to top investment institutions. Participants are required to submit a complete GitHub repository, a demo video, and proof of originality, with the final award results announced during the conference. Youth Voyage: Sparks Gather in Shanghai

As a featured pre-event, the "Youth Voyage Program" has successfully concluded. This program aims to lower the barriers for outstanding young developers in Asia to participate in top Web3 events through travel sponsorship, community support, and resource connections, injecting fresh blood into the ecosystem.

Since its launch, the program has received an unprecedented response, with the organizers receiving 154 highly competitive applications, far exceeding expectations, leading to an early closure of registration. After rigorous selection, over 30 outstanding young developers, including Clare Yang, Blue, Coooder, and karl4C, have emerged. These "voyagers" will not only receive travel subsidies of up to $200 but will also fully participate in the hackathon, competing alongside top developers from around the world, and gain valuable opportunities to enter the community talent pool, project referrals, and in-depth exchanges with core developers.

The "Youth Voyage Program" is not making its debut. In previous Devcon and ETHGlobal Bangkok events, the program has achieved remarkable results, with funded teams not only securing one finalist spot (emerging from over 700 projects, with only the Top 10 selected) but also winning 17 awards across multiple tracks, with a total prize exceeding $22,000. In April 2025, the program will extend to the Hong Kong Web3 Carnival, where Vitalik Buterin will be present to engage with young developers, fully reflecting the community's long-term commitment and support for youth power.

After Party: A Perfect Conclusion to Innovation

When all agendas are settled, a relaxed After Party will perfectly conclude the entire ETHShanghai journey. Injective, TinTinLand, ETHPanda, Wanxiang Blockchain, and PANews will host the After Party from 20:00 to 23:00 on October 22, aiming to provide developers, project parties, and ecological partners with an opportunity for relaxed communication, including ecological partner introductions and free socializing. Cocktails, music, and inspiration will blend together, marking a perfect end to the ETHShanghai journey while opening a new chapter of innovation.
