Editor’s Note: Since DOGS became famous last year, the TON ecosystem has attracted considerable attention in the crypto market. However, due to its somewhat closed ecosystem, continuously declining coin prices, and a dizzying array of trends, the TON ecosystem has gradually become a marginal area in the crypto market. Despite this environment, there are still several projects in the TON ecosystem that continue to develop, particularly the unique "sticker market" of the TON ecosystem, Sticker Pack, which has shown remarkable growth.

At the Token 2049 event in Singapore in October, we had the opportunity to engage in an in-depth conversation with two founders from Europe of Sticker Pack, providing a glimpse into this unique aspect of the TON ecosystem that spans both Web2 users and the Web3 market, as well as its "IP gold mine." The following content is organized based on the interview, with some information adjusted for coherence and length. The questioner is Odaily Planet Daily reporter Wenser; the respondents are the founding team of the Sticker Pack project.

Q1: Can you briefly introduce the project positioning and core functions of Sticker Pack?

A: Sure, Sticker Pack is a "sticker" platform we built on Telegram, primarily providing users with the creation and trading services of digital collectibles (stickers). These stickers exist in a tokenized form on the TON chain and can also be used directly in Telegram.

Public information shows that Line Messenger has generated huge revenue just from selling stickers (Odaily Planet Daily Note: Line attracted over 270,000 users from 145 countries and regions to Line Creators Market within 7 months in 2023, with related revenue reaching 1.8 billion yen, approximately 260 million USD in 2018), indicating that the sticker market is vast and has great potential, which is why we chose to build our project on Telegram. Sticker Pack is the first and currently the largest sticker project in the Telegram ecosystem. We have collaborated with many well-known IPs from both Web3 and Web2 fields, opening up a new market track.

Compared to traditional NFTs, the stickers of Sticker Pack have the following values:

  • Daily usage value: Most traditional NFTs can only sit in wallets gathering dust, but Sticker Pack's stickers can be used and interacted with in daily chats;
  • Social display value: Unlike traditional NFTs, users can showcase their unique stickers (which have unique numbers and different images) to friends or others anytime, anywhere;
  • Open trading value: Some stickers may have appreciation potential; this is an open secondary market where people can buy and sell at any time.

It can be said that the sticker business of Sticker Pack is a market product that caters to both Web2 internet users and Web3 crypto market users. It integrates the characteristics of digital collectibles, NFTs, stickers, and has unique usage scenarios and trading values.

Q2: What is your business model? Does it belong to the creator economy?

A: Yes, this indeed belongs to a type of creator economy model. The operation is as follows:

Current Model:

  • Well-known IP projects like Pudgy Penguins, BAYC (Bored Ape Yacht Club), and Doodles come to us to collaborate on launching IP stickers;
  • We evaluate proposals and help them tokenize their IP;
  • Creators own the corresponding IP and thus receive the vast majority of royalties and primary sales revenue;
  • We retain a small portion of the primary sales revenue and transaction fees from the secondary market.

In the future, we plan to expand the business scope and business model of Sticker Pack in the following ways:

  • First, Sticker Pack will become an open platform for creators worldwide;
  • Second, whether niche authors, small creators, or well-known brands and IPs can use our platform to upload content and attract fans to purchase stickers;
  • It is worth noting that Telegram's 1 billion users are an excellent channel for sticker creators and IP owners to generate revenue;
  • Finally, creators will have full rights to handle sticker releases, creative production, and brand marketing, with the vast majority of income going to them.

Sticker Pack is not just a platform for sticker creation, release, and trading; it will grow into an "IP super dream factory."

Q3: Are you only focused on the TON ecosystem? Do you have plans to expand to other blockchain ecosystems?

A: Yes, for us in the early stages of the project, focus is the only way forward. The reasons for choosing the TON ecosystem are as follows:

  • First, the TON ecosystem is closely linked to the Telegram super app, which has a strong user base;
  • Second, currently, Telegram is the only messaging app that integrates blockchain, making it very convenient;
  • Finally, Sticker Pack's stickers exist on the TON chain and can be easily integrated into Telegram;

In summary, the TON ecosystem is the best choice right now; the market is here, so we chose this place.

For future development, we maintain an open attitude; perhaps stickers will cross-chain to other ecosystems in the form of digital collectibles, but currently, TON and Telegram are our foundation.

Additionally, there are some interesting phenomena worth sharing:

  • Many projects outside the TON ecosystem (such as Azuki, Doodles, BAYC, Pudgy Penguins) are exploring various developments in the TON ecosystem; (Odaily Planet Daily Note: Previously, Pudgy Penguins launched a mini-game in the TON ecosystem.)
  • As part of business exploration, many projects view stickers as one of the key pillars for expansion on Telegram and TON;

Wenser: I must say, collaborating with these well-known NFT projects reminds me of the sticker project in the Base ecosystem, Sofamon. Although it has been a while since the hype, the project has not appeared in the public eye for a long time. For a crypto project, business expansion is undoubtedly very necessary.

Q4: Can you share some key operational data of the project? Such as user scale, transaction volume, etc.?

A: Of course. Currently, we intentionally limit the number of stickers to avoid oversaturation and excessive quantity. Therefore, each individual sticker is inherently scarce.

According to the Dune data dashboard, Sticker Pack strictly controls the number of sticker series.

In terms of transaction data, according to the Dune data dashboard:

  • The total market transaction volume is currently about 10.8 million USD;
  • The average daily transaction volume is about 200,000 USD;
  • The peak daily transaction volume is close to 1 million USD (usually when well-known IP stickers are released);
  • Driven by primary market sales, the secondary market transaction volume also sees significant growth.

High-value transaction cases:

  • Previously, an extremely rare sticker was sold for about 25,000 USD;
  • Some rare numbered stickers or those with hidden attributes (usually limited to dozens or hundreds) often sell for very high prices, bringing considerable income to creators or IP owners.

It is worth mentioning that the Sticker Pack platform officially launched at the end of December 2024, and currently, it has been operating for less than a year. We are proud of our current development achievements because behind this active sticker creation and trading market lies enormous growth potential. This growth is something we have witnessed firsthand, not just illusory numbers from others.

Q5: Do you have plans to issue a token? Can different creators issue tokens on your platform?

A: Regarding project tokens, Sticker Pack has no plans to issue a token. In fact, we position ourselves to focus on building a kind of Launchpad issuance platform.

Currently, there is a demand for customized tools and sticker staking in the market, and some secondary market trading platforms within our ecosystem are also introducing sticker staking product features. Although these platforms are not built by us, we are pleased to see the ecosystem thriving alongside us.

Currently, the Sticker Pack platform is mainly operated by our team, where we filter quality projects, determine project IP sale details, and provide marketing support.

In the future, we plan to create a Launchpad platform. This will be a self-service platform open to creators, with the vast majority of income going to the creators; creators can freely decide on sticker releases, creative production, brand marketing, and other matters.

Q6: How do creators, project parties, and users benefit or receive returns from your project?

A: Generally speaking, our workflow is as follows:

Step 1: Project Onboarding. Project parties or IP owners contact us through a web form or offline meetings. The Sticker Pack team first evaluates the development potential of the IP on the Telegram platform, such as assessing whether their IP has a certain fan base or if the existing audience on the platform is willing to purchase stickers related to that IP. We then determine the supply and pricing of the stickers together. IP owners can choose to design the stickers themselves, or the Sticker Pack team can provide assistance or support.

Step 2: Release and Sales. The stickers will be released on the open platform within the Telegram app. The main payment method, which used to be Telegram Stars, now exclusively uses TON tokens. Generally, many projects sell out quickly within minutes. After the sales are completed, creators receive corresponding income incentives.

Step 3: Explanation of Exclusive Payment Methods. According to the exclusive cooperation agreement between TON and Telegram, currently, no other blockchain can be used for payments or other on-chain operations within Telegram. The TON ecosystem has exclusivity on the Telegram platform, which is also an important reason why we have not expanded to other blockchain ecosystems for the time being. If the TON ecosystem changes this in the future, we will need to evaluate the subsequent developments in the relationship between Telegram and the TON ecosystem. Changing this status quo may take some time.

For us, stickers are not just a symbol or a feature on the Telegram platform; they are a medium and the best tool for the trend of digital asset tokenization within Telegram and the TON ecosystem. With the Sticker Pack platform and various stickers, Telegram users can truly own their digital art assets, creators or IP owners can receive corresponding economic returns, and the Sticker Pack platform will also contribute to the development of the TON ecosystem and the Telegram platform, creating a win-win situation for all parties.

In the future, Sticker Pack will continue to expand its project business, collaborating with more traditional well-known IP operating companies to broaden its business landscape, allowing more users to interact with their favorite IPs through Telegram stickers and enjoy the resulting social, collectible, and economic value.
