Recently, while chatting with several KOLs, I found that those with relatively few followers often share a common psychological barrier when creating content—content shame.
👇 You can self-check if you have the following symptoms:
When seeing a certain topic being posted by a big account, with good data and successful dissemination, and then thinking about posting on the same topic, it quickly turns into a self-examination:
Is it too late for me to post this now?
Will it seem like I'm mindlessly following the trend?
Will it appear that I'm trying to ride on someone else's coattails?
Will it lower my perceived professionalism in others' eyes?
This is the core of content shame:
Once creators treat "content" as a display of social status, they automatically introduce a cruel scoring system—who speaks first, who has greater reach, who seems more authoritative.
Once trapped in this dilemma, timeliness, redundancy, and completeness become obstacles.
The result will only be one: deviating from the essence of creation, you end up not wanting to post anything at all.
Then many small KOLs develop a kind of inertia: they only dare to reiterate things that have already been validated, only express low-risk, mediocre opinions, which ironically pushes their accounts into a traffic bottleneck.
Because you will never be criticized = you will never establish cognitive pricing power!
If you only engage in paraphrasing and following for a long time, over time, you will truly lose your ability to output.
This creates a very paradoxical cycle—
The more you care about your professional image, the less you dare to output;
The less you output, the less you can establish your judgment;
It seems very cautious, but in reality, it is stagnant in creation.
This is precisely contrary to the original intention of being a KOL.
Creating content should utilize information tools and dissemination leverage to accelerate the externalization and iteration of personal cognition, rather than waiting for an absolutely safe moment to express.
So you must let go of the psychological shadow over KOL creation, you must let go of the excessive imagination about traffic, and you must absolutely let go of content shame!
Even for the same topic, what you write today, three months from now, or a year from now will all be different.
As long as there is thought, as long as the perspective is genuine, as long as it is your own understanding, it will never go out of date.
This is the value of your existence in this creative field. Don’t be afraid; there aren’t that many great masters; we’re all just a makeshift crew, let’s do it and see!
