Hon Ng, Chief Legal Officer, Bitget
Eight years is a milestone worth remembering for Bitget.
Looking back at this eighth anniversary, the starting point, changes, and growth of the platform become clearer.
Eight years ago, Bitget was merely a trading platform focused on crypto derivatives. Eight years later, we have served over 125 million users and gradually expanded into global multi-asset categories such as US stocks, gold, and forex under the vision of the Panorama Exchange (UEX).
Over these eight years, the changes at Bitget have been more than just growth in scale. From initially focusing on crypto trading to today, where we continuously expand the boundaries of assets and markets, the users, assets, and trading scenarios connected by the platform are constantly extending.
However, one thing has never changed: the farther the platform goes, the heavier the responsibility on our shoulders.
As users gain more trading options, we must provide solid foundations to safeguard those choices; as the platform enters more markets, we must respond to the ensuing expectations with higher standards.
For Bitget, this means higher transparency, improved security systems, and compliance capabilities that can support the long-term development of diverse markets.
More importantly, these standards cannot be left in the past.
The platform is growing, and so must the standards; the market is changing, and the responsibilities must evolve accordingly.
This is also our deeper understanding of the word "responsibility" after eight years.
Let trust be visible and stand the test of verification
When users entrust their assets to the platform, it is the platform's responsibility to ensure that this trust can be traced and verified.
In December 2022, Bitget launched the Proof of Reserves. Since then, we have insisted on publishing reserve data every month, ensuring user assets are at least 1:1 reserved, and allowing users to independently verify whether their assets are included in the platform reserves through the Merkle Tree verification mechanism.
We have always believed that transparency is not a promise but a continuous action. As of September 2026, Bitget has continuously published 46 issues of the Proof of Reserves report, with an overall reserve ratio reaching 135% and an average reserve rate consistently above 120%.
On our eighth anniversary, we expanded the coverage of the Proof of Reserves from four initial assets to 19 types, including traditional financial assets like XAUT.
As the assets available for trading by users increase, the responsibilities that the platform must bear should also extend accordingly. Wherever the boundaries of assets expand, the scope of transparency and verification should follow.
But we understand that user protection goes far beyond just reserves. It involves account security, market order, and the management and control behind each mechanism of the platform. Therefore, we built another layer of protection.
In 2022, Bitget established the Protection Fund, with an initial size of $300 million, providing users with additional financial protection in extreme situations.
By August 2026, the average valuation of this fund was about $382 million.
We firmly believe that safety is not a point protection; it is a set of mechanisms that cover the entire process: identifying risks at the source, strengthening protection in details, and ensuring that every potential risk link has corresponding security barriers.
This is not only about user protection but also about how we respond to every bit of trust and bear the responsibilities that match it.
Guarding, not just a single layer
Safety has no endpoint, nor is there any tool that can solve all risks.
Therefore, we established a safety mechanism that covers the platform: from the stable operation of underlying infrastructure to account login and device management, as well as transactions and asset withdrawals, ensuring security throughout the entire process of users utilizing the platform.
Users can use security features such as two-factor authentication (2FA), FIDO2 and WebAuthn Passkeys, anti-phishing codes, and device control; at the same time, the platform also provides backend support for every user action through withdrawal protection, transaction monitoring, abnormal behavior detection, and anti-fraud systems.
Moreover, ensuring user safety also means actively taking on the responsibility of maintaining a trading environment.
Earlier this year, Bitget launched the Market Order and Token Responsibility Framework, further strengthening the ongoing supervision of listed assets, project teams, and market makers, driving all parties in the market to assume corresponding responsibilities through improved monitoring and handling mechanisms.
We aim to identify abnormal wallet behavior, market manipulation, liquidity shortages, and other suspicious trading activities earlier, while further clarifying the responsibilities of project parties and market makers in the market. Once potential violations are identified, we will take corresponding measures based on the specific circumstances, including strengthening risk warnings, restricting account functions, freezing accounts, suspending trades, or delisting related assets when appropriate.
Maintaining market order is also about maintaining every user's confidence in the market.
Entering more markets also means taking on more responsibilities
The same principle extends to our compliance work. The more markets Bitget serves, the more diversified and complex the regulatory environment we face.
Different jurisdictions have their own regulatory frameworks, asset classifications, and risk requirements, and the demands placed on the platform vary accordingly. For us, entering a new market also means re-understanding local rules and establishing compliance capabilities that match within the corresponding regulatory framework.
Currently, Bitget's regulatory landscape covers multiple jurisdictions, including Argentina, Australia, El Salvador, Georgia (Tbilisi Free Zone), Mauritius, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and has obtained corresponding registrations, licenses, or regulatory approvals.
Facing different markets and asset classes, we continuously refine our KYC and KYB processes, anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) controls, sanctions list screening, trading monitoring, and other compliance mechanisms, while maintaining communication with regulatory authorities.
The development of UEX has also added new meanings to this responsibility.
As crypto assets, tokenized stocks, commodities, and other assets enter a unified trading environment, the platform needs to face different market structures, trading mechanisms, and risk characteristics, and also requires the security capabilities that were previously scattered across diverse assets and businesses to operate in coordination on the same platform.
Therefore, Bitget has been continuously improving the UEX Security Standard, covering verifiable solvency, multi-asset risk isolation, data and privacy protection, dynamic monitoring, as well as application and infrastructure defenses across multiple domains.
As the boundaries of the market continue to expand, the responsibilities that the platform must bear must also extend accordingly.
Eight years have passed, but the responsibility remains unchanged
After eight years in this industry, we realize more clearly: There is no set of standards that can remain unchanged. Transparency must keep pace with the platform's development, safety must keep pace with the changing risks, and compliance must keep pace with the evolution of the market and the regulatory environment.
The past eight years have confirmed for us even more that: Growth and responsibility have never been two independent matters. For every step the platform moves forward, the choices available to users increase; at the same time, the scope of what we need to protect, verify, and assume responsibility for will also expand.
Eight years ago, users began to entrust their trust to Bitget.
Today, users engage with a more diverse array of assets on Bitget, with richer choices, and broader trading scenarios. The responsibilities of the platform accompanying them are also more burdensome than eight years ago.
On this eighth anniversary, as we reflect on and consolidate the growth of Bitget, we are equally reminded: Some things will change, but some things must not change.
The platform can continue to grow, the market can continue to expand, and products can continue to innovate.
But the responsibility to protect user assets cannot change.
The commitment to safety and compliance cannot change.
The transparency that allows users to see, understand, and verify the operation of the platform cannot change.
As we have come this far, what truly has not changed is our constant respect for the trust of users.
The theme of Bitget's eighth anniversary is "Trading Extremism." This phrase represents not only the infrastructure and product capabilities the platform can provide but also that a platform based on safety, guided by transparency, and grounded in responsibility is what enables users to trade with greater peace of mind.
Eight years is a milestone and a new starting point. Looking back on the journey today, we see the changes we have gone through and better understand the responsibilities on our shoulders.
The further we go, the more we cannot forget why we set out; the more users we serve, the more we must keep every entrusted element close to heart.
As we enter the ninth year, we will continue to move forward. These unwavering commitments will continue to be the foundation of our progress.
