The global digital asset financial services group BIT (formerly Matrixport) announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Singapore-based fintech company Techtanium (TTN) to jointly explore development opportunities for banks and financial institutions in the tokenized finance sector. Eva Meng, head of Matrixdock under the BIT group, signed the memorandum on behalf of the group, together with Dai Ke, CEO of Techtanium.

The two parties will combine Techtanium's banking technological capabilities with BIT group's digital asset financial infrastructure to explore how to assist banks in accessing tokenized assets through existing systems, obtaining institutional liquidity support, and developing new financial products and business models.

Integrating Banking Technology with Digital Asset Financial Infrastructure

As tokenized assets gradually enter the institutional financial market, banks not only need to focus on asset issuance but also consider supporting services such as custody, asset management, trading, liquidity, and financing, while meeting institutional-level compliance, risk management, security, and operational requirements.

Techtanium's digital financial operating system Digital Finance OS (DFOS) adopts a unified, modular architecture, integrating Unified Core, Super Gateway, asset tokenization, and end-to-end business orchestration capabilities, supporting banks in developing, distributing, and operating traditional and tokenized financial products. The platform covers banking business processes such as accounts, payments, settlements, and daily operations, helping financial institutions connect with the digital asset ecosystem based on existing systems.

BIT Group has a comprehensive financial service system covering asset tokenization, institutional custody, trading, liquidity, financing, and asset management, and leverages long-term experience in servicing institutional clients, as well as the group's related frameworks in compliance, risk management, and operations, to support institutional digital asset businesses. The group's Matrixdock and Cactus Custody will provide relevant professional capabilities for this collaboration.

Matrixdock is BIT Group's real-world asset (RWA) tokenization platform launched in 2023, with practical experience in asset tokenization, reserve management, and on-chain settlement. Its tokenized products include gold XAUm, silver XAGm, and short-term U.S. Treasury bonds STBT, emphasizing reserve transparency and verifiability. Among them, the precious metals products rely on professional custody infrastructure in Asia and support physical redemption.

Cactus Custody is BIT Group's institutional-level digital asset custody business, providing institutional custody infrastructure, multi-party computation (MPC), and over-the-counter settlement solutions. In terms of compliance qualifications, related entities under BIT Group hold a Hong Kong trust or company service provider (TCSP) license, and other related entities are members of the Swiss VQF self-regulatory organization.

Exploring the Application of Tokenized Assets in Banking Financial Services

This collaboration will focus on tokenized assets, institutional liquidity, and financial products issued by banks such as tokenized deposits, exploring digital financial solutions aimed at banks and financial institutions. The two parties will explore how to integrate digital asset financial services into banking business processes while maintaining existing core banking systems, while adhering to banking-level compliance, risk management, security, and operational control requirements.

According to the signed MOU, both parties also plan to cooperate in joint market expansion, solution development, and connecting banks and financial institutions. In the initial stages, the focus will be on identifying potential application scenarios, assessing system integration solutions, and the specific projects and business arrangements will be further determined as the collaboration progresses.

Dai Ke, CEO of Techtanium, expressed: “Tokenized finance is not just about introducing a new asset class; more importantly, it is about integrating digital assets and related services into the existing operating system and customer services of banks. Through our unified digital financial platform, banks can more easily connect with the asset tokenization and institutional custody ecosystem based on their existing capabilities, without the need to fully replace core systems. We hope that through our collaboration with BIT Group, we can help banks seize these opportunities and explore new business models that could shape the future of financial services.”

John Ge, co-founder and CEO of BIT Group, stated: “Bringing traditional financial assets on-chain is just the first step. For tokenized assets to genuinely serve the institutional financial market, secure asset custody, continuous asset management, and the necessary infrastructure support for trading, liquidity, and practical applications are essential. BIT Group integrates capabilities covering the entire lifecycle of digital assets. Through our partnership with Techtanium, we hope to connect this infrastructure with mature banking systems to jointly explore new development opportunities for financial institutions.”
