Today marks a pivotal moment in Jamaica’s economic development as we officially broke ground on the Caymanas Special Economic Zone (SEZ). This transformative initiative, led by the Port Authority of Jamaica, signals our commitment to creating a modern logistics ecosystem that positions Jamaica as a competitive hub in the global supply chain. The Caymanas SEZ will serve as a cornerstone of our national logistics strategy, attracting foreign investment, fostering innovation, creating high-value jobs, and accelerating industrial growth. In my keynote address, I emphasized that the development of SEZs is not merely about infrastructure, it is about building the foundation for sustainable, inclusive economic growth. I commend the leadership of Hon. Professor Gordon Shirley, President and CEO of the Port Authority, and all partners who are working to bring this bold vision to life.
