But, but what about the energy needed for AI???
The economic incentives are SO VAST that we will accelerate ALL sources but especially the Kardashev I model of the fact that the largest nuclear energy source in the solar system is not a nuclear power plant, but the sun itself. Yes, the tech isn't there today but it will be soon because the economic incentives are aligned.
Yes, we will solve storage
Yes, we will solve efficiency of capture.
Yes, we will harness wind and water incredibly efficiently
Yes, we will use oil and gas
Yes, we will use nuclear
Yes, we will move to a decentralized grid to avoid upgrading old systems.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
No, it's not the end of fossil fuels but their dominance will decline (while demand increases but prices won't over time due to technology. e.g we have more Nat gas than we will need for the next century, most likely).
If you anchor on fossil fuels or even yellow cake because it's your personal anchor you will miss the big opportunity.
Think bigger. The world is changing fast. China and India are leaping ahead in the tech whilst still necessarily consuming vast fossil fuels but the fossil fuel dominance will fall vastly over time.
The Kardashev model is correct but no one understands it yet really...(Raoul Pal)
