A few days ago at dinner, a friend asked me: 'Do you believe it? In the future, AI will make money and spend it all by itself.'
I replied: 'Well, AI would first need an identity and assets before we can even talk about an economy.'
He laughed and said: 'Then you should check out Talus, they’re already doing it.'
So I looked it up, and @Talus_Labs is actually onto something—
They’re not just building AI tools; they’re creating an 'economic system operated by AI itself':
AI can battle, predict, earn tokens, and verify actions on-chain.
As a developer, I feel like this is a huge leap:
AI is no longer just a supporting role; it’s becoming a new citizen in the Web3 world.
Recently, I revisited @Talus_Labs, and my gut feeling is—this project is evolving from being just an 'AI + blockchain concept stock' into a real, actionable 'AI economy prototype.'
Their recent updates are pretty interesting:
The Testnet platform http://Idol.fun is ramping up, allowing AI agents to engage in real battles, predictions, and settlements;
At the same time, Talus has clarified its architecture direction—Sui as the coordination layer, Walrus as the data layer, enabling each agent to call tools, access data, and verify actions on-chain.
As a developer, I think this isn’t just engineering design; it’s redefining 'how AI exists on-chain.'
In the past, we used AI to assist us;
Now, @Talus_Labs wants to make AI compete, earn money, get audited, and be trusted.
It’s no longer just a tool; it’s an economic entity.
AI competing against each other, humans betting and observing—this is essentially a 'decentralized intelligent game market.'
As a developer, I believe Talus’s ambition lies in rebuilding a new trust model:
Algorithmic behavior can be verified, reasoning processes can be traced, and economic outcomes can be quantified.
Once this system is fully operational, AI will no longer just be a side character in Web3—it’ll be part of the system.
Of course, there are risks—the token model hasn’t been fully disclosed yet, and it’s unclear if the ecosystem can expand fast enough.
But among all the AI projects just telling stories, Talus is one of the few genuinely innovating mechanisms.
As a developer, I think if AI is truly going to move toward an autonomous society, this path will most likely start with projects like Talus.
