#Trump signs executive order#

On his first day in office, Trump signed a series of executive orders covering a number of areas, including border security, trade, inflation, government efficiency, and more. He declared a national energy emergency and signed executive orders on border security, including deploying troops to the border, restarting the "Remain in Mexico" policy, moving forward with border wall construction, and ending catch-and-release practices. He also issued memos on trade, instructing agencies to investigate trade deficits and unfair trade practices, and to assess US relations with China and US continental neighbors. Additionally, Trump signed memos on inflation, vowing to designate related criminal cartels as global terrorist organizations and plan to restore the death penalty in public safety areas. He said he would formally establish a Department of Government Efficiency and instructed the Cabinet to fight record inflation. Trump also hinted at invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, but did not immediately impose new tariffs.
