We understand that land ownership in Jamaica is often tied to family legacy. Many of you live on land that has been passed down for generations, but you do not have a registered title. That’s why my administration introduced a new, modern approach to land titling through the Systematic Land Registration Programme. Under this initiative, we established adjudication committees to help verify land occupation and ownership in designated areas. From April 1, 2021, to June 30, 2025, we have issued over 12,240 land titles, real, legal ownership documents, for families who have lived on these lands for decades without proper documentation. We have successfully implemented this programme in parts of St. Elizabeth, St. Catherine, and other parishes. Now, we are working to expand into more areas so that persons in communities like yours can benefit. Even better, we cover the cost upfront, including legal and surveying fees. Over time, you can repay at affordable rates, removing the traditional barriers to land titling. The land titling revolution is here, and it’s transforming lives across Jamaica.(Andrew Holness)
